These Soft Beef & Spinach Bites are the ultimate High Iron BLW Recipes for babies starting solids. They are nutrient-dense, easy to hold, and perfectly soft for 6-month-old gums. Made with lean beef and fresh spinach, they support healthy brain development.
1 lb (450g) Ground Beef (80/20 lean)
1 cup Fresh Spinach, finely chopped
1/2 cup Rolled Oats (quick or traditional blitzed)
1 Large Egg
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tbsp Avocado Oil or Olive Oil
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. If using a food processor, pulse the fresh spinach and oats together until fine. If cutting by hand, ensure spinach is finely minced to avoid choking hazards.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, spinach/oat mixture, egg, garlic powder, cumin, and oil.
4. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overwork the meat to keep it tender.
5. Using a small cookie scoop, portion out the mixture. Roll into balls and flatten slightly into thick discs (easier for baby to hold).
6. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 18-22 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
7. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Storage: Keep in the fridge for 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Serving Tip: Serve with orange slices (Vitamin C) to maximize iron absorption.
Texture: If bites are too firm, simmer in low-sodium tomato sauce or bone broth to soften.
